NY Nurses' Pension Names New CIO

The $3 billion pension fund has chosen a new investment chief following Russ Niemie's exit.

The New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) Pension Plan Benefits Fund has appointed a new CIO following the departure of its long-time chief.

Director of Research Case Fell has been promoted to CIO, according to his LinkedIn profile. Fell has been with the fund since 2008.

Fell replaces Russ Niemie, who told CIO in February that he was leaving the fund for a “new challenge.” Niemie had served as CIO since April 2000.

NYSNA’s multi-employer plan had $3 billion in pension assets and a $98 million pool for health care and insurance as of December 31, 2014. Fund annual reports showed the defined benefit assets allocated across stocks, bonds, real estate, joint venture partnerships, and funds-of-hedge funds.

Fell holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Tech University.
