  • Joseph Arns

    Associate Director, ISS ESG

    Joe is an associate director at ISS ESG, where he is the sector head for ESG corporate ratings of technology, media, and telecommunications companies. In this role, Joe is responsible for applying ISS ESG’s rating methodology to assess the ESG performance of corporations around the world on behalf of investors. Before joining ISS, he held several investment roles related to strategy, process, and security analysis. Joe founded a registered investment advisory firm, was director of research for a wealth-management firm and held equity research roles at Bank of America and Susquehanna International Group.  He received his bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Joe is a CFA charterholder and recently earned a certificate of professional achievement in sustainability analytics at Columbia University.

  • Rupal Bhansali

    Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager, Global Equities | Co-Portfolio Manager, Ariel Global Concentrated

    Rupal Bhansali is chief investment officer and portfolio manager of Ariel’s global equity strategies. In this capacity, she oversees our global research effort and manages multi-billion dollar portfolios. She also co-manages our global concentrated strategy. Rupal joined Ariel in 2011 after 10 years with MacKay Shields where she was senior managing director, portfolio manager and head of international equities. Previously, she spent 5 years at Oppenheimer Capital, where she was responsible for international and global equity portfolios and was promoted to co-head of international equities. Additionally, Rupal has held various roles at other financial services firms since she began her career in 1989, including Soros Fund Management. In 2009, Forbes International Investment Report named her a “Global Guru,” in 2015, Barron’s recognized her as a “Global Contrarian,” and in 2017 PBS’s Consuelo Mack referred to her as an “unconventional thinker.” In January 2019, Rupal became the newest member of the prestigious Barron’s Investment Roundtable, which showcases “10 of Wall Street’s smartest investors.” She is a frequent guest on Bloomberg, CNBC and Fox Business News, and authored the book, Non-Consensus Investing: Being Right When Everyone Else Is Wrong. In 2020, Rupal obtained the FSA credential, awarded by the Sustainable Accounting Standards Board (SASB) for professionals who understand the link between sustainability and financial performance. Rupal serves on the Advisory Board of Directors of the Ira M. Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership at Columbia Law School, and the Board of Directors of the 100 Women in Finance Global Association. Fluent in several Indian languages including Hindi, Rupal earned a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and finance, as well as a Master of Commerce in international finance and banking from the University of Mumbai. She later earned an MBA in finance from the University of Rochester, where she was a Rotary Foundation Scholar.

    Clint Coghill is the CEO of Backstop Solutions Group. Clint co-founded Backstop in 2003 with the vision of helping the institutional investment community work better, for everyone.With nearly 30 years of experience in the investment management industry, from Goldman Sachs to Coghill Capital Management to Back
    stop, Clint is steeped in the inner workings of institutional investing. Clint uses his insider’s perspective to steer Backstop in its development of software solutions that connect institutional and alternative investors with the information they need to make the best data-informed decisions.
    Clint is also passionate about charitable work, having founded the Environmental Impact Initiative, a think-and-do tank that bridges the gap between leading green solutions and the organizations that can gain by them.
    Clint received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona, and his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the London Business School.

  • Daniel Farley

    Chief Investment Officer, State Street Global Advisors

    Dan Farley, CFA is an Executive Vice President of State Street Global Advisors, and CIO of the Investment Solutions Group. In this role, he oversees a global team of over 150 investment professionals managing over US$400B in multi asset class portfolios. His team is responsible for the firm’s target date, active asset allocation, and Outsourced CIO investment strategies. He is also a member of the firm’s Executive Management Group.
    Dan holds an MBA from Bentley University, a BSBA from Stonehill College and has earned the Charter Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston. He is executive sponsor of the firm’s Latin American Professionals Group. Dan is a frequent speaker with the media and conferences on a variety of investment topics. He is also on the Board of Trustees at Bentley University and the Chairman of the Board at the Crispus Attucks Children’s Center.

  • Rebecca Fender

    Head, Strategy and Governance, Research, Advocacy, and Standards, CFA Institute

    Rebecca Fender, CFA, is the Head of Strategy and Governance for the Research, Advocacy, and Standards area of CFA Institute. She provides strategic analysis and partners with key stakeholders to develop and implement initiatives, processes, and metrics that will improve the team’s effectiveness.
    Previously, she was a member of the industry research team and the founder and leader of the Future of Finance initiative.  As the thought leadership platform for CFA Institute, her group published studies to help investment professionals build their careers and serve their clients more effectively.
    Ms. Fender has testified before the U.S. House Financial Services Committee AI Task Force on the impact of artificial intelligence on investment roles. She speaks regularly at industry events and has been quoted in the Financial Times, Bloomberg, and the New York Times, among others. 
    Prior to joining CFA Institute, Ms. Fender was a vice president at BlackRock working with pension funds and endowments, and she also worked at Cambridge Associates, where she published research about manager selection. She earned her undergraduate degree in economics from Princeton University and holds an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia.

  • Eduard van Gelderen

    Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments)

    Eduard van Gelderen is Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer at the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) where he oversees the organization’s total portfolio and establishes the long-term investment portfolio strategy. He also heads the responsible investment, public policy, and government relations functions.
    Prior to joining PSP Investments, Eduard was Senior Managing Director at the Office of the Chief Investment Officer of the University of California. As a member of the executive team, his primary responsibilities included overseeing the University’s retirement plan, heading up equity and real assets activities, and handling strategic partnerships in Europe. He also served as CEO of the Dutch financial service provider APG Asset Management and as Deputy CIO of ING Investment Management.
    Eduard is a certified Financial Risk Manager and a Chartered Financial Analyst and has served on several investment advisory boards. He holds a master’s degree in Quantitative Finance from Erasmus University Rotterdam and a post-graduate degree in Asset Liability Management from Maastricht University in Limburg. He is currently a PhD candidate at the International School of Management in Paris. Eduard began his career as an investment banker in London and Amsterdam.

  • Michael Hunstad, Ph.D.

    Head of Quantitative Strategies, Northern Trust Asset Management

    Michael Hunstad is head of quantitative strategies at Northern Trust Asset Management. He serves on the asset management executive group, and leads all equity portfolio management and research for quantitative, index and tax-advantaged strategies.
    Previously, Michael was director of quantitative research where he was responsible for leading Northern Trust Asset Management’s factor-based research and product development programs.
    Prior to joining Northern Trust, he was head of research at Breakwater Capital, an algorithmic trading firm and hedge fund. Previously, he was head of quantitative asset allocation at Allstate Investments, LLC and a quantitative analyst with a long-short equity hedge fund. He also served as an adjunct professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
    Michael holds a Ph.D. in mathematics, an MBA in finance, an M.A. in econometrics and a bachelor’s degree in economics. He has published more than 80 articles and papers in professional and academic journals including Pensions & Investments, European Pensions, the Journal of Index Investing, the Alternative Investment Analyst Review, the Journal of Financial and Strategic Decisions and the Journal of Corporate Treasury Management. Michael has also spoken at more than 200 conferences across North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia/New Zealand.

  • Dan Krivinskas

    Head of Real Estate, Aksia

    Dan is Head of Real Estate and has over 19 years of real estate experience. He leads the global investment research for real estate primaries and co-investments.
    Prior to Aksia’s acquisition of Alignium LLC, Dan was a co-founder and Managing Principal of the firm, where he was responsible for sourcing and structuring investment opportunities as well as helping to lead the firm’s relationships with institutions, including governmental, endowment and foundation, and family office real estate investors.  
    Prior to that, Dan was Director of Real Estate Consulting, Senior Consultant & Principal at RVK, Inc. Before that, he was General Counsel and Consultant at Courtland Partners and an Associate at Jones Day.  Dan started his career with the United Nations Development Programme and the Government of Lithuania, focusing on transition economics.
    Dan graduated summa cum laude from Duke University with an AB in Economics and Public Policy. He holds a JD from the University of Michigan Law School and is admitted to the Ohio bar.

  • Kirk M. Moore

    Global Head of Research, Columbia Threadneedle Investments

    Kirk M. Moore is the global head of research at Columbia Threadneedle Investments. In this role he leads the company’s fundamental research capabilities. He joined one of Columbia Threadneedle Investments legacy firms in 2003 as an analyst. He has been a member of the investment community since 1990.

    Kirk received a B.A. in Finance from the University of Missouri St. Louis and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Washington University. In addition, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

  • Ashby H. B. Monk, PhD

    Executive Director, Stanford Research Initiative on Long Term Investing

    Ashby Monk is the Executive & Research Director of the Stanford Research Initiative on Long-Term Investing. Outside of academia, he is the Head of Research at Addepar and has co-founded several companies that help investors improve investment decisions (e.g., FutureProof, NetPurpose, D.A.T.A., and Long Game Savings). He is the co-author of The Technologized Investor and is a member of the CFA Institute’s Future of Finance Advisory Council. He was named by CIO Magazine as one of the most influential academics in the institutional investing world. He received his Doctorate in Economic Geography at Oxford University and holds a Master’s in International Economics from the Universite de Paris I – Pantheon Sorbonne and a Bachelor’s in Economics from Princeton University.

  • Nicole Musicco

    Chief Investment Officer, CalPERS

    Nicole Musicco was named chief investment officer in February 2022.
    She oversees an investment office of nearly 400 employees and manages investment portfolios of roughly $500 billion, including the Public Employees’ Retirement Fund and affiliate funds.
    As chief investment officer, Nicole oversees total fund investment and operational strategies. She collaborates with the managing investment directors and their teams to implement asset allocation and investment strategies. She also oversees our Investment Office’s business management needs, including strategic planning, financial reporting, expense management, and talent management.
    Prior to joining CalPERS, Nicole was a partner at RedBird Capital Partners where she led the firm’s Canadian investment business. She also previously managed the private markets investment program at the Investment Management Corporation of Ontario (IMCO).
    Nicole’s experience includes 16 years with the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan where she led the public equity investment team and oversaw the private equity fund and co-investment program. She was responsible for opening the fund’s Asia Pacific office in Hong Kong and helped build its presence in Asia.
    Nicole graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology from Western University in London, Ontario, and a bachelor of arts in Honors Business Administration and MBA from Western’s Ivey School of Business.

  • Tony Payne

    Senior Vice President, Technology & Innovation and Chief Technology Officer , BCI

    Tony Payne, Senior Vice President, Technology & Innovation and Chief Technology Officer at BCI. Tony joined BCI in February 2020. In his role leading technology and innovation, Tony is focused on fostering strategic partnerships across BCI. This includes projects around digital transformation, the future of business technology, and innovation powered by digital capabilities, including machine learning and artificial intelligence. Prior to joining BCI, Tony spent over 20 years leading and evolving technology departments and teams, and helping organizations evolve in their digital transformations. Tony has experience across multiple industries from financial services, engineering, hospitality, and gaming, to investment management. His career spans technology, audit, and business operations.
    Tony holds an ICD.D designation and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. He holds an MBA and bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He serves as a director on boards for both public and private companies and has held the positions of board chair as well as chair of governance and finance committees.

  • Dhvani Shah

    Chief Investment Officer, JM Family Enterprises, Inc.

    Dhvani Shah, CFA, is group vice president and chief investment officer of JM Family Enterprises, Inc., a privately held diversified company. In this role, Shah is responsible for managing and monitoring JM Family’s portfolio and investment activity, managing pension funds, and developing short- and long-term investment policies. Shah currently serves as a Board of Director for CFA Society Miami, The Robert Toigo Foundation, PREA Foundation and PREA.
    Prior to joining JM Family, Shah was chief investment officer for the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) in Oakbrook, Illinois for nearly 10 years. In that time, she oversaw a global $49+ billion portfolio and led a team of seventeen investment professionals with respect to the portfolio monitoring and management responsibilities. A seasoned investment professional with more than 25 years of industry experience, Shah also worked with the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System, Bank of America and the Northwestern University Investment Office.
    Shah was named in CIO Magazine’s 2019 Power 100 list, which recognizes the 100 most influential chief investment officers. She received her master’s degree in business administration from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and received her bachelor’s in business administration degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Loyola University. She, along with her husband and two children live in Delray Beach, Florida.
