Mercer Seeks New US CIO

The firm is also looking to hire a new head of North American infrastructure.

Mercer is looking for a new U.S. CIO, according to a posting on the consulting firm’s career site, as well as on job boards.

“As the US Chief Investment Officer, you will establish strong working relationships with key leaders and business leaders across Mercer US, including membership on the Mercer US wealth leadership team,” according to the posting.

According to Mercer, the new CIO will be a “key partner” in executing business strategy and will oversee the U.S. investment team and the company’s investment process. The new CIO will also lead the design and management of Mercer’s U.S. outsourced CIO funds and client strategies.

The position includes collaborating to establish a portfolio construction philosophy and oversee implementation of the firm’s U.S. investment platform. Additionally, the CIO will work closely with Mercer’s alternatives and private markets teams to develop “total portfolio solutions.”

The candidates for the position are expected to have extensive asset allocation experience, with a proven record of adding value through “strategic and dynamic” asset allocation for traditional and alternative assets, including private markets, according to the post.

Mercer is also looking to hire a head of North American infrastructure to succeed David Beamish, who left the company in August to join Alectra Energy Solutions.

According to the post, the infrastructure position includes membership in Mercer’s global real assets leadership team and a seat on the global infrastructure investment committee.

“This role is pivotal in managing and growing Mercer’s infrastructure investment strategies and client relationships across North America,” the post states.

The chosen candidate will be expected to serve as the main point person for investment strategies focused on North America, including managing large co-investment mandates with U.S. public pension funds, as well as overseeing Mercer’s Private Investment Partners U.S. Infrastructure strategy.

Candidates are also expected to have extensive experience in infrastructure investment management, including portfolio management and co-investment strategies, as well as experience managing teams at multiple locations.
