Brian Towers
Asset manager PGIM Inc. Thursday named Brian Towers as head of insurance and strategic partnerships. Towers, who will lead efforts to build long-term strategic partnerships with insurers, will report to Keshav Rajagopalan, head of PGIM’s strategic capital group.
Towers will build a dedicated team to deepen and expand PGIM’s insurance business and develop solutions for complex insurer needs, according to the announcement. A managing director at Blackstone in his previous position, Towers was responsible for building out and scaling the firm’s multi-asset credit strategy.
“PGIM has supported insurers around the world for decades, and we continue to see opportunity to serve them even more effectively with an integrated, specialist approach,” Rajagopalan said in a statement. “Insurers’ needs span a continuum from strategic partnerships to tailored portfolio solutions, and this appointment strengthens our ability to deliver a consistent, high-quality experience across that full spectrum, globally.”
PGIM [formerly Prudential Global Investment Management], the asset management business of Prudential Financial Inc., manages $1.5 trillion in assets, including more than $100 billion in assets for insurers.
Before Blackstone, Towers was the global head of product and client portfolio management at AIG; global head of institutional product and client engagement at Invesco Ltd.; and director and alternative product strategist at BlackRock.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations and Latin American studies from Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA.
