Kames Names Ball as Permanent Sales Head

Peter Ball has earned a full-time role at the boutique UK asset manager.

Kames Capital has hired Peter Ball to lead its institutional business after a strong year of mandate wins for the UK boutique fund manager.

Ball has been working with Kames for 10 months on a consultancy basis, and his role has now been made permanent.

As well as his role at Kames, Ball has also been appointed head of business development for parent company Aegon Asset Management. While Kames is focused chiefly on the UK market, Ball’s role at Aegon will see him promoting new business lines globally.

“We were very impressed with Peter’s impact upon the business while performing the role on an interim, part time basis and therefore decided to take the next step of appointing him full time,” said Martin Davis, Kames chief executive.

Prior to joining Kames, Ball was on the board of JLT Employee Benefits with responsibility for investment management and investment consulting. He also led the UK institutional business at JP Morgan Asset Management for 10 years.

Last year saw Kames land 23 new mandates, the fund manager said, with public and private pension funds buying in to strategies such as absolute return and property.
