Maisonneuve Quits as PIMCO Rethinks Equities

Another major figure has quit the Newport Beach bond giant.

PIMCO’s Global Equities CIO Virginie Maisonneuve has resigned after 17 months on the job, according to Bloomberg. There are no immediate plans to replace her.

The firm will be shutting down two active stock strategies as well, marking a major setback for the bond house’s aggressive push into equities. Staff associated with the Pathfinder and Emerging Market Equity products will reportedly lose their jobs.

PIMCO did not respond to a request for confirmation and further comment by the time of publication.

Maisonneuve joined PIMCO in January 2014, having led Schroders’ global equities program for a number of years. She was one of several prominent hires the firm has made since it lost Chief Executive Mohamed El-Erian last year after clashes with founder Bill Gross.

Gross himself shocked the industry by leaving for Janus Capital in September 2014.

Maisonneuve was one of 12 key directors PIMCO named to maintain stability within the company following the exit of its two top executives.
