Digital infrastructure asset manager DigitalBridge Group Inc. announced on Wednesday plans to acquire power and electric infrastructure specialist investor ArcLight Capital Partners LLC for up to $1.05 billion.
The deal, which would include a base purchase price of $650 million and up to $400 million in contingent compensation, would create a specialist digital infrastructure asset management platform with more than $150 billion in assets.
The transaction is conditional, subject to completion of the acquisition of DigitalBridge by the Softbank Group Corp. in a $4 billion deal announced in December 2025.
“By combining ArcLight’s deep experience across power infrastructure with DigitalBridge’s global digital infrastructure platform and longstanding relationships across the hyperscale ecosystem, and SoftBank Group’s broader technology and [artificial intelligence] leadership, we believe the combined platform will be well positioned to support the next generation of infrastructure development,” said Daniel Revers, ArcLight’s founder, in a statement.
Boston-based ArcLight will operate as a separately managed business as a part of Boca Raton, Florida-based DigitalBridge’s platform,
Acquisitions are increasing among asset management firms seeking scale at a time when private market fundraising and distributions to limited partners have slowed. Other recent deals include Nuveen’s bid to acquire Schroders and Trian’s acquisition of Janus Henderson.
“AI is rewiring the global power equation, accelerating investment across generation, transmission, and behind-the-meter infrastructure,” said Marc Ganzi, DigitalBridge’s CEO, in a statement. “We believe the firms best positioned for this next phase of growth will be those that are able to underwrite both digital and energy infrastructure with equal depth and credibility. Together, DigitalBridge and ArcLight will help create a scaled infrastructure platform positioned for that convergence.”
