Asset manager Neuberger Berman announced Tuesday the appointment of Maya Bhandari as CIO of multi-asset strategies for the EMEA regions.

Bhandari was previously global head of multi-asset at BNP Paribas Asset Management for nearly three years until her departure last September.

Based in London, Bhandari will be responsible for leading the multi-asset team’s investment decisionmaking and commercial efforts in the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. She will also serve in the firm’s asset allocation and public/private investment committees.

“With over 20 years’ experience, Maya will strengthen and deepen engagement with institutional and intermediary clients, leveraging Neuberger Berman’s global platform to develop and oversee tailored multi-asset solutions,” said Matt Malloy, head of EMEA and the global institutional client group at Neuberger Berman, in a statement.

Bhandari earned a master of arts degree in economics from the University of Edinburgh and a master of philosophy degree in international relations from the University of Cambridge.

“Neuberger Berman’s comprehensive global investment capabilities across public and private asset classes and distinctive investment culture are what drew me to the firm,” Bhandari said in a statement. “The firm is really well positioned to capture opportunities in an increasingly complex marketplace. I am excited to work with both new and existing clients across the region and globally.”
