The New York City comptroller’s office announced on Monday the departure of its deputy CIO and head of private equity. Eneasz Kądziela will depart the Bureau of Asset Management, the entity that manages the New York City pensions’ investments, for a new investment management opportunity, according to a statement from the comptroller.
The comptroller’s office, led by Comptroller Brad Lander, oversees the five pension systems of New York City: the Teachers’ Retirement System of the City of New York, the New York City Employees’ Retirement System, the New York City Police Pension Fund, the New York City Fire Pension Fund and the New York City Board of Education Retirement System.
“Over the past ten years, Eneasz has played an extraordinary role in building our private equity platform, helping drive strong asset class performance and building and strengthening our global relationships with our investment partners,” said Steven Meier, the New York City Retirement Systems’ CIO, in a statement.
Kądziela joined the office of the comptroller in 2015 as a private equity investment officer and was later promoted to senior investment officer in 2017, head of private equity in 2021 and deputy CIO and head of private equity in 2022. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Rutgers University.
“Eneasz has been an invaluable colleague, mentor, and partner to many across our organization. His professionalism, integrity, collaborative spirit, and deep commitment to our mission have left an indelible mark on our investment organization and, importantly, on the strong positioning of the city’s five retirement systems’ portfolios,” Meier said in the statement. “I’m truly grateful for Eneasz’s partnership and executive level support over the past few years. While Eneasz will be missed by many, I know we are all excited for what the future holds for him.”
The five NYC pension funds collectively manage $279.14 billion in assets, of which 10.02%–approximately $27,98 billion—is allocated to private equity, as of March 31.
