Pictet Asset Management, in a bid to expand its client base in the U.S., announced Tuesday the appointment of Rick Bisignano as U.S. head of distribution, effective immediately.

In the new role, Bisignano will be responsible for institutional business development and client relations with public and corporate pension fund sponsors, endowments and foundations, investment consultants and outsourced CIO providers.

He will report to Elizabeth Dillon, CEO of Pictet Asset Management USA.

“Institutional investors are rethinking portfolio construction in today’s market and looking for partners with real global depth and a long-term perspective,” Bisignano said in a statement. “Pictet’s more than 200-year history as an independent, partner-owned firm, combined with its institutional heritage, is a powerful proposition. I look forward to building lasting relationships with U.S. asset owners and their consultants.”

Previously, Bisignano was head of the east region–institutional client group at Allspring Global Investments. He also had been a managing director, northeast region lead at Wells Fargo Asset Management.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University at Buffalo.

“We are delighted to welcome Rick as we continue to build Pictet Asset Management’s institutional presence in the U.S.,” said Elizabeth Dillon, CEO of Pictet Asset Management, in a statement. “Rick brings deep knowledge of the U.S. institutional market and long-standing relationships with asset owners and consultants, which will be essential as we bring more of Pictet’s global capabilities to American institutions.”

Pictet managed $343 billion in assets worldwide, as of September 30.
