Bryan Moore
The $50.3 billion South Carolina Retirement System Investment Commission named Interim CIO Bryan Moore as the permanent successor to Geoff Berg, who left earlier this year to become CIO of the University of Rochester.
Moore, who assumed the interim CIO role in July, will continue to manage the investment portfolios for the state’s five defined benefit pension plans.
“During this interim period, Bryan has established himself as the investment team’s leader and firmly set his vision for managing the portfolio,” said South Carolina Retirement Investment Commission CEO Michael Hitchcock in a statement. “Bryan was an instrumental partner in the development and implementation of the significant portfolio changes we made over the past five years, and I have full faith and confidence in his ability to lead the investment team far into the future.”
Moore joined the South Carolina RSIC in 2012 as a senior investment officer, working his way up to director of public markets in 2014, managing director of public markets in 2018 and deputy CIO in 2023. Prior to that, he was an alternative investments analyst at the Pennsylvania State Employees’ Retirement System.
A spokesperson for RSIC said they are not filling the deputy CIO role at this time.
Moore was also a member of CIO’s NextGen class of 2023.
