How Institutions Think About Their Data
The 2025 State Street Data Study found that having a holistic data strategy benefits investors, but while the opportunities are significant, challenges from integrating new data sources and keeping up with innovations, are daunting.

State Street surveyed asset managers, asset owners, wealth managers and insurers from around the world in late 2024 and early 2025 about their holistic data strategies, finding that assets owners are more likely than the other groups to have a data use and management strategy in place.
Among those that do not yet have one, most responded that they expect to have one within two years.
The industry expects investment in data and technology will increase investment performance, revenue and costs savings.
