Mellon Foundation Promotes Deputy to CIO Post
Abigail Kahn Archibald succeeds Scott Taylor as the investment chief of the $7.8 billion fund.

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, a $7.8 billion foundation which provides grants to support the arts and humanities, announced Wednesday the promotion of Deputy CIO Abigail Kahn Archibald to CIO.
She succeeds Scott Taylor, who stepped down in March, after having that job since September 2018.
“I am honored to step into the Chief Investment Officer role at Mellon,” Archibald said in a statement. “I look forward to leading our exceptional investment team and building on the strong foundation we’ve established to deliver strong and lasting performance for the endowment in an ever-changing investment environment. I’m eager to work closely with the board and the entire Mellon team to steward our resources with care and discipline in service of the foundation’s mission to strengthen the arts and humanities.”
Archibald joined the foundation as an investment analyst in 2011, rising to the position of portfolio manager in 2012, senior portfolio manager in 2018 and deputy CIO in 2026, shortly before Taylor’s February departure.
Prior to joining the Mellon Foundation in 2011, Archibald was a vice president at Lehman Brothers, leading strategic products and new product development within the firm’s investment management division. She also worked as a consultant at Cambridge Associates.
Archibald earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
