Asset manager Barings announced Monday the appointment of Sloan Sutta as its global head of asset-based financing, overseeing the firm’s $60 billion ABF platform.
Sutta will oversee the platform’s direction and its investment capabilities, including public and private markets in commercial, consumer and residential strategies, according to a Barings statement.
“Asset-based finance is a strategic area of focus for Barings, and we continue to see compelling opportunities to build on our platform’s strength and scale to further enhance the solutions we offer to clients,” said Martin Horne, co-head of global investments at Barings, in a statement. “Sloan brings deep experience across asset-based finance markets and a strong track record of building and expanding investment platforms. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our capabilities and position the business for its next phase of growth.”
Sutta was previously a managing director at alternatives manager Crayhill Capital Management and held similar roles at what was then Och-Ziff Capital Management and Garrison Investment Group.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colgate University.
“Barings’ global scale and origination network, integrated public and private investing platform, and long-standing ABF track record create a differentiated market position from which to serve its clients and drive this next stage of strategic growth,” Sutta said in a statement. “I am excited to expand the platform’s breadth, capabilities and offerings, seeking to deliver compelling risk-adjusted returns to investors across the evolving asset-based finance opportunity set.”
