Apollo Global Management will take a minority equity stake in Mubadala Capital, the alternative investment platform of Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala Investment Company.

The transaction is expected to close before the end of 2026, pending regulatory approval. Apollo will take a 10% stake in the asset manager, according to reports.

As part of the deal, Apollo and other strategic investors will commit $5 billion in capital to Mubadala Capital’s investment strategies, which include private credit, private equity, co-investments, real assets and infrastructure.

“Mubadala has been a trusted partner in seeding and scaling a number of our strategies over the years,” said John Zito, co-president of Apollo, in a statement. “This investment in the differentiated asset management platform they have built in Mubadala Capital builds on our existing partnership and reflects our conviction in their business.”

Mubadala Capital, founded in 2011, will continue to operate independently and maintain its own governance structure, a statement from Apollo said. The Mubadala Investment Co. will continue to be the platform’s majority shareholder.

Mubadala Capital manages more than $755 billion in assets, including $60 billion within its core alternatives business, including special opportunities, with a focus on Brazil. Apollo manages $1.05 trillion in assets.
