Methodology

The profiles of qualified managers represent a total of 727 transitions and more than $200 billion. Full category descriptions are as follows: Transition complexity was rated on a scale of 1 (very simple) to 5 (extremely complex). Level of disclosure represents the degree to which a manager disclosed its transition performance vs. benchmarks, from 1 (no disclosure) to 5 (full disclosure). Importance of relationships is a client assessment of the importance of other relationships (e.g., custody) when selecting that manager. Similarly, importance of project management rates the importance of the manager’s project management capabilities in the client’s selection decision. Percentage of excellent ratings is the number of “5” scores for overall satisfaction, out of all the provider’s satisfaction scores. Complete investment discretion and independent audit represent the incidence of clients saying that the manager assumed full discretion for the transition and whether an independent audit was provided.
