Multi-family office platform Cresset Capital Management LLC announced Thursday the appointment of Joe Zidle as executive managing director and chief market strategist.

Zidle—formerly chief investment strategist at Blackstone—launched his own firm, Zidle Macro Strategy Group, following his 2025 departure from Blackstone.

“Cresset has built something distinctive by bringing together investment management, wealth planning, and family office capabilities around the needs of families, business owners, and entrepreneurs,” Zidle said in a statement. “That is exactly the environment in which I want to apply my experience.”

Before joining Blackstone, Zidle had spent nearly a decade at Merrill Lynch, serving in several research and strategy-related roles, including head of investment strategy for global wealth management and deputy director of the firm’s research investment committee.

“As Cresset continues to grow, we are building an investment platform designed around the complexity and long-term needs of ultra-high-net-worth families,” said Cresset CIO Mike Silverman in a statement. “Joe brings an exceptional combination of investment experience, intellectual curiosity, and an ability to translate complex market dynamics into insights that are meaningful for clients. His experience across macroeconomics, asset allocation, and public and private markets adds another important perspective to an already deep investment organization.”

Earlier this year, Cresset named Susie Cranston, who had been president since 2024, as CEO. With Cranston’s April 15 promotion, the firm’s founders, Eric Becker and Avy Stein, became executive co-chairs.
