Class of 2022 NextGens

In a volatile time, these 16 rising stars represent the thoughtful, capable and innovative asset allocation leaders of the future.

Theirs are THE NAMES TO KNOW. In the world of allocators, these folks are among the group who stand to become chief investment officers themselves. They are known for their financial knowledge, interpersonal skills and forward thinking. They are already leaders in their organizations and their communities. We expect they are also the next generation of industry leaders.

Each year, we at CIO ask for nominations for the brightest up-and-comers on the allocator scene. And, for the past 10 years that we’ve been doing this, we get an impressive list of leaders who embody the spirit of innovative and creativity, combined with attention to detail that personifies the best of institutional investing.

We ask their CIOs to assess them, and give each nominee a set of questions, the answers to which help reveal their personalities and their approach to investing and markets. CIO’s NextGen 2022 series that follows gives you a glimpse into how these individuals think and why they are leaders.

This year, as the world continues to grapple with the pandemic and its economic and policy fallout of rising rates and volatile markets, there are special challenges for investing. In light of the uncharted obstacles ahead, our NextGens share their thoughts on the investment landscape, offer insights on how to navigate it and identify the skills that will be needed for success in the future.
