NEPC has an open investment architecture and build customized investment programs to meet each portfolio’s unique goals and objectives. They start with a thorough assessment of the organization’s financial ability to take risk, not just their risk tolerance Investment management vehicles may include investment manager separate accounts, commingled funds, mutual funds, or limited partnerships across all asset classes. Provided they have full portfolio transparency, they will implement with the lowest cost vehicle offered by managers on our focused placement list that provides the requisite level of liquidity.

All implementation is the end-result of the asset allocation process. Once an investment policy has been agreed upon, they will review what is currently in the portfolio and make changes as needed. Importantly, as they make manager changes, they utilize the best strategies that have been fully vetted by our research team. Additionally, they are not paid any fee for utilizing these funds.
