2022 Asset Management & Servicing Winners
Diversity
Ariel Investments Winner
Since its inception in 1983, Ariel Investments has been innovative with its philosophy and approach. Diversity and inclusion have been in the firm’s DNA since its founding, as Ariel is the first African American-owned asset management firm in the U.S. Currently, 46% of Ariel’s senior leadership are women and 78% of the firm’s employees are women or people of color.
In 2021, continuing its mission of providing opportunities to diverse sets of people, Ariel launched a private asset management firm, Ariel Alternatives, to scale minority-owned businesses, helping to close the racial wealth gap.
For decades, Ariel has been working to increase financial literacy within the African American community. In doing so, Ariel has also developed a playbook for diversity, equity and inclusion for corporate America—which serves as the foundation for the firm’s annual Black Corporate Directors Conference. The 20th annual conference took place in September 2022, convening with more than 150 Black, Latino and Latina directors of Fortune 500 companies to discuss Ariel’s Three Ps of DE&I: People, Purchasing and Philanthropy.
